SaskEnergy Catch for Kids program enjoys best year ever!
Catch for Kids program enjoyed its best year ever, raising $35,499.58 to
support KidSport™ Saskatchewan.
"This program is a huge success for KidSport™ and we appreciate the efforts of all
the program sponsors," said Jim Fink, Chair of KidSport™ Saskatchewan. "Special thanks to all
those who donated to the program. All funds raised will be distributed to KidSport™ kids throughout the
province so they can participate in their favorite community sport programs."
SaskEnergy donated $25 per Rider pass completion, $100 per touchdown scored, and $25 for
each successful field goal. Bobbie the Bobblehead, Saskatchewan's first bobblehead sports doll, was also
sold as part of the program. Corporations and individuals were also encouraged to make donations. Since
the inception of the program, over $100,000 has been raised which has helped over 1400 kids to participate
in their favorite sport. Saskatchewan Roughriders Nealon Greene and Paul McCallum served as ambassadors
for the program.
"The Catch for Kids Program continues to be an inspiration for our company, for the
Saskatchewan Roughriders and for the entire community," said Ron Clark, President and Chief Executive
Officer, SaskEnergy. "SaskEnergy is committed to the youth of today and to programs and services that
ensure they have the skills to become the leaders of tomorrow."
The SaskEnergy Catch for Kids program began in 1998 when SaskEnergy partnered with the
Canadian Football League's All-Time Leading Receiver, Don Narcisse, to develop an initiative that would
provide positive role models for youth and teach them the value of sport.
KidSport™ is a charity which provides financial support to families facing financial
obstacles so their children can participate in sport. The KidSport™ goal is to provide these children
with the opportunity to learn values such as teamwork, dedication and self-esteem through sport. If all
children are given the opportunity to play, then those children may have a better chance of becoming
contributing members and leaders in our communities.
