SaskEnergy Supports Canada Games
 with Clean Machine

Any athlete will say you can only expect to get out of your body what you put into it. The same sentiment can be applied to vehicles.

SaskEnergy is proudly supporting a cleaner, greener environment by donating the use of a natural gas vehicle for staff and volunteers of this summer's Canada Games. SaskEnergy is the Official Sponsor of Volunteers for this summer's games, providing accreditation, uniforms, as well as recognition for volunteers. As part of the sponsorship, we provided a head office location for the Games on the main floor of SaskEnergy Place. In addition, Natural Resources Canada and SaskEnergy have pooled resources to convert this 3/4 tonne truck to a natural gas vehicle, which produces 20 per cent less Greenhouse Gas emissions than the same vehicle powered by traditional gasoline fuel.

Staff and volunteers for the 2005 Canada Summer Games, SaskEnergy, and Green and Gold gather around the SaskEnergy/Canada Games Clean Machine for a group photo.

The natural gas fuelled 2005 Chevrolet Silverado will transport signage and other materials in preparation for the games. Organizers for the Games are committed to minimizing the environmental impact of a national event of this proportion. They have a mandate to use and promote more environmentally friendly modes of transportation including self-powered, public, and alternative fuel powered transportation.

The SaskEnergy/Canada Games Clean Machine is up to the challenge, gets the same mileage as any comparable vehicle, and at 48.9 cents per litre equivalent for fuel it will soften the impact on both the environment and the Games' budget.
