Commercial Space and Water Heating Rebate

The Commercial Space and Water Heating Rebate encourages the use of high-efficiency equipment to maximize energy cost savings while reducing greenhouse gas emissions. SaskEnergy, in collaboration with SaskPower, is offering rebates based on the type, efficiency, number of units and size of the equipment installed in commercial buildings.

Program Details:

  • Equipment must be installed by a participating SaskEnergy Network Member or a Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan (TSASK) Licensed Contractor
  • Only eligible equipment qualifies
  • Must be a SaskEnergy Commercial Customer
  • Property is located in Saskatchewan
  • Examples of eligible buildings: retail stores, apartment complexes, strip malls, dental clinics, restaurants, municipal buildings, community halls, buildings owned or operated by non-profit organizations, barns, mechanical shops, non-residential farm buildings

How to Participate:

Contact a participating SaskEnergy Network Member or a TSASK-Licensed Contractor

Your Network Member will determine eligible equipment options for your building. Rebates are available on the following qualifying equipment:

Replacement Only
  • Furnace (96.0% - 96.9% AFUE) - $325
  • Furnace (97%+ AFUE) - $650
  • Boiler Plants - not exceeding 700 MBH total plant capacity 
    • Individual boiler input rating not exceeding 400 MBH
    • Minimum individual boiler thermal efficiency of 90%
    • $10/MBH for the first 600 MBH
    • $3/MBH above 600 MBH
  • Condensing Water Heaters (ENERGY STAR® certified) - $5/MBH
  • Tank Water Heater (ENERGY STAR® certified as of April 1, 2023) - $250
  • Rooftop Units - $60/ton
    • Eligible if installed on or after April 10, 2024
    • Minimum two-stage, gas-fired with an economizer
    • Does not exceed 20 tons, with a minimum EER of 12
    • 5.4 - <11.25 tons, min. IEER 14.6
    • 11.25 - 20 tons, min. IEER 14
  • Variable Speed ECM (electronically commutated motor) Pump
    • Eligible if installed on or after April 10, 2024
    • <100 watts = $30 per ECM
    • 100 watts to <1500 watts = $0.40/watt per ECM

AFUE = Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency     
TE = Thermal Efficiency     
MBH = 1000 British Thermal Units per Hour;
EER = Energy Efficiency Ratio;
IEER = Integrated Energy Efficiency Ratio

Replacement or New Installation
  • Boiler Plants - not exceeding 700 MBH total plant capacity 
    • Individual boiler input rating not exceeding 400 MBH
    • Minimum individual boiler thermal efficiency of 95%
    • $10/MBH for the first 600 MBH
    • $3/MBH above 600 MBH
  • Tankless Water Heater (ENERGY STAR® certified) - $1,000
  • Infrared Tube Heaters (minimum 40 MBH)
    • Single stage heat - $600
    • Dual stage/modulating heat - $1,000
    • Condensing heat** - $1,200
  • Heat Recovery Ventilator 65%+ SRE - $0.75/CFM


  ** Infrared Tube Heaters with a thermal efficiency >90% or condensing.     
TE = Thermal Efficiency 
MBH = 1000 British Thermal Units per Hour     
CFM = Cubic Feet per Minute     
SRE = Sensible Heat Recovery Effectiveness

Apply

Once the equipment installation is complete, you can submit your rebate application. Your Network Member or Contractor can apply on your behalf. You must apply within 60 days from when the equipment was installed.

Rebate issued

Once we receive your application with the required documentation, a rebate cheque or SaskEnergy bill credit (whichever method of payment you selected) will be issued within 6-8 weeks.

Due to a Canada Post labour disruption, you may experience a delay in receiving your rebate cheque. 

To inquire about a high-efficient equipment model that is not listed in the eligible equipment list, please send an email with the following information: type of equipment, manufacturer make and model number and product specification sheet (if possible). Once we receive your email a Program Representative will get back to you as soon as possible.

Buildings that are directly or indirectly owned or operated by or who receive their funding (over 50%) from the Province of Saskatchewan or the Government of Canada are not eligible to participate in the program.
