When it comes to hiring a contractor for natural gas services, we recommend SaskEnergy Network Members for expert service and advice. Find an approved contractor near you.
Hiring a contractor
Before hiring a plumbing and heating contractor, ensure the employee or company:
- Is a licensed journey person and member of the Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan (TSASK).
- Provides proof of liability insurance. If you hire a contractor who is not insured, you may be responsible for any accidents that occur on your property.
- Offers warranty on services and products.
- Has positive Google or industry reviews, or can provide references upon request.
- Is willing to provide a detailed quote for the work.
Ask about SaskEnergy rebates
- SaskEnergy offers a variety of rebates on high-efficiency natural gas equipment. When working with a SaskEnergy Network Member or licensed contractor, they can help you select the best equipment for your home and advise if it is eligible for a rebate.
Watch out for high pressure sales
- SaskEnergy Network Members are approved contractors and will never conduct door-to-door sales.
- If a salesperson comes to your home claiming to be affiliated with SaskEnergy, request to see their identification. Employees or field representatives always have company ID stating they are an authorized contractor of SaskEnergy.
- Take your time. You do not need to sign a contract or make a big purchase decision on the spot.
- To report a scam contact the Financial and Consumer Affairs Authority (FCAA) of the Government of Saskatchewan at 1-306-787-5645 or 1-877-880-5550.
