Acting in the best interests of the public
ESG issues are critical for us to address as we meet Saskatchewan’s demand for energy. They are also important to our customers and the communities where we operate.
SaskEnergy's work to promote ESG principles starts with our Board of Directors. The Board provides strategic leadership on ESG initiatives and risks, including:
- environmental responsibility
- Indigenous relations
- stakeholder engagement
- community investment
- financial stewardship
- employee and public safety.
SaskEnergy’s Board of Directors is committed to high standards of governance that are consistent with regulatory expectations and evolving best practices.
Managing risks
Our approach to risk management is to:
- Examine our operating activities.
- Identify current and emerging risks through an assessment process.
- Communicate risks throughout the organization.
- Actively manage risks through our Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program.
Risk management is the responsibility of all levels of management. The Board and Executive set the tone, and provide leadership and oversight, for ERM.
Integrity, ethics and diversity
ESG principles are a part of our corporate culture. They foster health and safety, community relations, environmental protection and diversity.
Our corporate values are reflected in our Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy. It guides our behaviour and decision making as we serve our customers, interact with our colleagues, and engage with communities.
A diverse workforce allows us to meet our ESG objectives. SaskEnergy strives to ensure our director recruitment and succession planning efforts include a wide variety of perspectives and backgrounds. We also aim to have a workforce that is representative of the communities where we live and work.
