SaskEnergy is celebrating 25 years of being Saskatchewan’s Champion of Volunteers. With that, many of our employees are renewing their commitment to making an impact in the community.

In February, a team of SaskEnergy employees volunteered at the Regina Food Bank.

“It feels good to help such an impactful organization. When SaskEnergy employees volunteer with these community staples, we can really amplify our impact and demonstrate our company’s commitment to the communities we live and work in,” says employee Daniel Dietrich.

The group volunteered in the Food Bank’s warehouse, sorting and packing food items for distribution, as well as organizing shelves with new donations.

Handling the donations was a sobering reminder for the volunteers that countless community members rely on the Food Bank for the basic essentials many of us take for granted. The organization distributes more than 13,000 pounds of food to Regina households, schools and community partners every day.

“To see firsthand the impact the Food Bank has on our community and the amount of people that use it daily was really eye opening,” says Tegan Lee.

For 25 years, SaskEnergy has prided itself on being Saskatchewan’s Champion of Volunteers through the sponsorship of thousands of community events and programs that have made positive contributions in communities throughout the province. Since 2000, more than $2.2 million of SaskEnergy’s sponsorship program budget has been targeted to volunteer sponsorships. Volunteerism is also embedded in our company’s culture, and we are proud to support employees in giving back to their communities.

“Our time at the Regina Food Bank was all coming from the heart,” says employee Swapnil Kshatriya. “We were all working towards a common goal by strengthening our bonds with each other, which felt incredibly fulfilling.”
