The curlers weren’t the only ones hurrying hard at the 2025 BKT World Men’s Curling Championship — with 13 teams and over 75,000 fans attending nine days of curling action, it was the efforts of the more than 300 volunteers who made the event a success!

As the official volunteer sponsor for the Championship, which took place from March 29 to April 6, 2025 in Moose Jaw, SaskEnergy was proud to support all the volunteers who hosted the event — helping fans to their seats, taking and selling tickets, providing support to athletes, setting up the venue and more!

“It was an exciting week in Moose Jaw and we were so proud to stand behind the hundreds of dedicated curling volunteers. International events like the BKT World Men’s Curling Championship are only made possible with the generous commitment of volunteers,” says Allix Schweitzer, Supervisor of SaskEnergy’s Community Engagement team. “This was another great opportunity for SaskEnergy to support volunteerism in Saskatchewan and help celebrate our 25th anniversary as Champion of Volunteers.”

As the volunteer sponsor, SaskEnergy provided funding for the volunteer uniforms and limited edition volunteer pins, as well as Champion of Volunteers lanyards and bags for the 340 volunteers at the event. SaskEnergy also supported the volunteer lounge where volunteers could head to rest, regroup and grab a snack during the busy days.

SaskEnergy was the Sponsor of the Day on Friday, April 4 at the BKT World Men's Curling Championship in Moose Jaw.

On Friday, April 4, we also served as the Sponsor of the Day, which included the distribution of 800 Champion of Volunteers pins to attendees. SaskEnergy employees from our Moose Jaw office were also there to lend a helping hand by volunteering for the day.

“It was such a positive experience to be able to meet and talk to people from all over the world,” says employee Jerry Stevens. “It was just a really happy atmosphere.”

“It was awesome getting to interact with the public — including our customers! — and celebrate with the other volunteers at the event,” adds Maddy Weinrich. “It was pretty special having a world event held in the heart of our downtown.”

Thanks to the teamwork and dedication of Saskatchewan volunteers, the 2025 BKT World Men’s Curling Championship was another successful event that the people of our province can be proud of.

“Whether it’s the BKT World Men’s Curling Championship, community clean-ups, or town festivals, SaskEnergy continues to stand behind the dedicated volunteers of this province and show our commitment to be a leader in volunteerism,” says Allix.

Over the past 25 years, SaskEnergy has provided non-profit and charitable groups with more than $2.4 million dollars to support the invaluable work of those who give back our communities.
