Our First Nations Furnace Replacement Rebate program is just one of many ways SaskEnergy is helping our customers.

This was one of several programs we introduced in 2023-24, which are highlighted in our annual report

Yellow Quill First Nation in east-central Saskatchewan is benefiting from this rebate program. New high-efficiency natural gas furnaces are being installed at more than 40 homes. This is helping residents reduce emissions and costs.

“For years, the issue of furnaces needing replacement has been a concern for our community. This SaskEnergy rebate really helped,” says Darrell Natawcappo - Housing Coordinator, Yellow Quill First Nation.

“This helps our community because high-efficiency furnaces are a lot cheaper on the budget, so the families and elderly people that live in these homes will see a decrease on their monthly bills,” adds Darrell. “And, as First Nations people, it’s a way of doing our part to take care of the land and reduce our carbon footprint.”

In addition to new rebate programs, SaskEnergy has made it more convenient for our customers to do business with us.

Our mobile app provides customers with more self-serve options. They can use the app to check natural gas usage, book appointments and much more.

We offer two-hour arrival windows for meter exchange appointments for urban and rural customers alike. This is down from our previous eight-hour window. We also text or call when a technician is on their way.

We make it easy for thousands of new customers to connect to our natural gas system each year. After a simple online application process, our technicians meet customers at the site of their new home or business. We also provide regular updates until the new gas meter is connected.

To continue serving our more than 411,000 customers, we also invest in our system. This helps us to maintain a service reliability rate greater than 99.99 per cent. Our expansion projects in 2023-24 were targeted in the Melfort and Regina areas.
