The season of giving is on full display at SaskEnergy’s Weyburn office, as employees helped with two donation drives this holiday season.

“The Weyburn office has a long history of supporting various causes," says SaskEnergy employee Marla Swanson. "We recognize that many people are in need and we aim to make their Christmas a bit brighter."

SaskEnergy’s Weyburn team continued their support of the Blow Away Hunger food drive. They donated two big boxes of food to the Salvation Army Food Bank in Weyburn.

“It’s something we look forward to doing every year," says employee April MacMillan. "The whole community is involved."

The Weyburn office also supported the Weyburn Oilwomen Association's Santa For Seniors program.

The program provides seniors in care homes with a Christmas gift.

Over 200 seniors provided wish lists for the Santa For Seniors program, with items like socks, gift cards, wordsearches, toques and more. The SaskEnergy employees helped out seven seniors this year.

“The seniors got everything on their wish lists and more. Some even got double,” employee Sheena Olmstead says. “I had a fun time participating in Santa For Seniors. Once I started shopping for them, I had a hard time stopping.”

“The community of Weyburn was able to fulfill all the tags and ensure everyone will have a gift under the tree,” adds April.

The Weyburn office received a $250 grant from SaskEnergy to buy gifts for seniors.

Helping during the holiday season has become a highlight of the year at the Weyburn office.

“Projects like this not only make us feel good but also provide a fun way for us to come together,” Marla says.
