Improving the well-being of individuals builds a strong sense of community. We believe in lending a hand when and where we can.
Share the Warmth™ - Celebrating 30 Years
The Share the Warmth program began in 1994 as a Sweater Recycling Project which redistributed nearly one million articles of warm clothing to individuals across the province. Today, the Share the Warmth Grant program provides funding to charitable organizations that offer warm clothing, shelter, food services or mental health support to help vulnerable citizens manage our cold prairie winters. Through an annual application process, organizations can receive up to $1,000 for their project.
Since 2013, $430,000 has been distributed to support more than 430 Share the Warmth projects. This year, SaskEnergy is providing $100,000 in grants to charitable organizations in honour of 30 years of Sharing the Warmth. Applications are closed for 2024.
Tune-Up Assistance Program (TAP)
With the support of SaskEnergy Network Members, TAP helps income qualified homeowners tune-up their furnace to prepare for the winter ahead.
Recipients receive a hands-on furnace examination and maintenance service free of charge. They also receive a carbon monoxide detector, two furnace filters and up to $200 in repairs (if required) for a total program value of up to $400.
Regular maintenance of your home heating system helps keep your furnace running safely and efficiently, reduces the risk of costly repairs in the future and carbon monoxide in the home. Our 2023-24 program helped 1,415 homeowners in communities across the province.
Community Sport Initiatives
For more than 20 years, SaskEnergy has been supporting access to sport for youth and those experiencing disability through programs like KidSport & Special Olympics Saskatchewan. Access to sports helps build skills such as leadership, confidence, teamwork and fuels healthy habits for life.
SaskEnergy is proud to be the official volunteer sponsor for KidSport Saskatchewan and Special Olympics Saskatchewan. KidSport Saskatchewan provides funding to more than 6,000 kids every year, granting over $1million to creating opportunities to access and participate in sports. Special Olympics Saskatchewan provides year-round low to no cost sport programs to more than 1,100 people with intellectual disability.
Employee Giving
Our employees are leaders in giving back to their community either through work-led initiatives or through personal contributions. Corporate fundraising events occur to create awareness and to contribute to causes that have the greatest impact within the community. For over 20 years, employees across the province help promote and raise funds for the United Way.
The United Way brings together organizations and individuals to share ideas and provide solutions to current challenges within the community.
