Provincial government approves SaskEnergy’s commodity rate increase; the lowest rate in Canada
The Government of Saskatchewan has approved SaskEnergy’s application to increase its commodity rate — the first increase in seven years after four consecutive decreases. The new rate will be the lowest in Canada. Effective November 1, 2021, SaskEnergy’s commodity rate changes from $2.575/Gigajoule (GJ) to $3.20/GJ. Public safety and system improvements focus of rate application
SaskEnergy has applied to the Saskatchewan Rate Review Panel for a Delivery Service Rate increase to support continued elevated capital spending on system safety and customer growth initiatives totaling more than $50 million in 2017/18. If approved, a typical residential customer would see an increase of $1.65/month – 2.3 per cent of their total bill – effective November 1 st , 2017. Safe and reliable natural gas service continued to be the number one focus for SaskEnergy in 2015-16 as the corporation added more than 6,000 new customers to its distribution system, bringing its total customer base to nearly 387,000. Regina pilot project tracking real-time energy usage
As part of SaskEnergy’s commitment to environmental sustainability, a pilot project at our Regina Service Centre (RSC) is tracking real-time energy consumption, which will help us to reduce our emissions at that location. For most of this year, Regina-based energy management company Greenwave Innovations has been collecting round-the-clock data from 105 different monitoring points at RSC, which is one of our larger sites.
