SaskEnergy has completed the investigation into the October 2014 gas release and fire at its Prud’homme natural gas storage facility east of Saskatoon. The nine-day incident began October 11 th, 2014 at one of the seven underground natural gas storage caverns at the facility. No one was hurt in the incident, and no service was lost to any residential, business or industrial customer. SaskEnergy is once again offering its Tune-Up Assistance Program (TAP) to income-qualifying homeowners in Saskatchewan. In 2016-17, SaskEnergy recorded income before unrealized market value adjustments of $70 million, compared to $86 million for the 12-month period ending March 31, 2016. The corporation declared a dividend of $29 million to Crown Investments Corporation (CIC), based on 2016-17 income before unrealized market value adjustments. In support of carbon monoxide (CO) safety awareness, and after a successful launch of the program, SaskEnergy is extending its CO alarm rebate offer until March 31, 2021. SaskEnergy initially partnered with retailers across Saskatchewan to offer a $10 rebate on the purchase of CO alarms from November 2, 2020 to January 31, 2021. SaskEnergy has converted its Town Border Station in southwest Regina to generate solar power as part of its commitment to cut emissions. The Regina station is the first of several such facilities across Saskatchewan that will be converted to generate solar power over the next seven years. Today the Government of Saskatchewan approved an increase to SaskEnergy’s Delivery Service Rate of 3.6 per cent to begin November 1, 2017. On average, the increase to residential customers will be an additional $1.65 per month or about $20 annually. SaskEnergy is teaming up with KidSport Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) to help more kids participate in sport. Under the Goals for KidSport program, SaskEnergy will donate $20 to KidSport for every home goal scored by an SJHL team during the league’s 2022-23 regular season—up to 1,000 goals or $20,000.
